Importance of Employee Training

Introduction

A training program gives everyone the opportunity to strengthen those skills. This helps ensure that everyone on your team is up to par and can perform their job day in and day out. With proper training and development, weakness can turn into strengths and your employees can stand out (Erasmus, et al., 2006).

Improves Skill and Knowledge

Employee training programs help employees enhance their knowledge and abilities in order to keep up with industry changes. These enhancements will have a favorable impact on worker productivity, which will increase an organization's revenues and efficiency. Work ethics, human relations, and safety are some of the topics that employees may learn through training (Erasmus, et al., 2006).

Satisfies the Recommendations of Performance Appraisal

When an organization's employee performance reviews indicate that a particular subject or skill needs to be improved, training programs for employees can be established to help meet this need. As a result, training can be used to address an issue and work toward a solution (Homer, 2007).

Prepares Employees for Higher Responsibilities

Employees who are advancing into higher roles and taking on greater responsibility in a business can benefit from training programs. These programs will assist employees in learning the skills they will need to succeed in their new roles (Homer, 2007).

It Shows Employees They Are Valued

Employees will feel more invested in the organization if training programs are implemented in the workplace. Employees will not only become better workers, but they will also feel like more productive members of the organization, if you continue to educate them new skills and abilities. This will boost their morale as well as their productivity at work (Erasmus, et al., 2006).

Improve IT and Computer Skills

Companies may train their staff to produce graphs and spreadsheets, modify data in databases, and comprehend network configurations in order to provide a more thorough grasp of computers and increase workplace efficiency (Erasmus, et al., 2006).

Conclusion

Every organization considers training and development to be a growth strategy. The organization uses it to bridge the gap between current capabilities and future opportunities. Employees' abilities, efficiency, production, and growth chances are all enhanced by these training programs.

  1. Hey Janani, I agree with your blog. Employees are a valuable resource for the company, and their performance determines whether the company succeeds or fails. As a result, businesses are investing more in staff training and development initiatives. Furthermore, firms should emphasize knowledge, skill, and ability of employees in training programs. Professionals and scholars are debating the impact of development programs on both employees and organizations. (Jehanzeb, K. and Bashir, N.A., 2013)

    1. Hi Pavani, I agree with your comment. Training is an effort made by an organization to encourage learning among its employees, whereas development is primarily focused on broadening an individual's skills in preparation for future responsibilities(George & Scott, 2012).

  2. Hi Janani, I agree with your post. Performance of the employees depends on factors like job satisfaction, knowledge and management. There is close relationship between training and performance (Chris, 2010). The employee performance is important to increase of the organization performance and therefore training & development is needed for the employee to improve its performance (Raja et al, 2011).

    1. Hi Nilushi, Thank you for your comment. Every organization must address training and development, with the primary goal of improving employee competencies so that the organization's human resources are as effective and efficient as possible. Winning the "hearts and minds" of employees and getting them to identify with the company can be beneficial to a corporation(Armstrong, 2009).

  3. Hello Janani. A very good topic to discuss about. Let me add a thought too. Employee training is essential for an organization's growth. Efforts on employee training and development demonstrate that organizations are capitalizing not only on high potential employees, but also on individuals who can commit to achieving higher levels of responsibilities (Walters & Rodriguez,2017).

  4. Hi Janani , Agree with you , Improved job performance and other positive changes (e.g., the learning of new skills; Hill & Lent 2006, Satterfield & Hughes 2007) should be the outcomes of training-related changes (Kraiger 2002).

  5. Hi Jalani. Very important and vital topic in present context of the corporative world and i do agreed to what you have stated. Also, Employee Development and Training Differentiated programs, services, capabilities, and products are what organizations strive towards in order to be successful. However, well-trained professionals must imagine, design, execute, and maintain such features. 2013 (Jehanzeb & Bashir)

    1. Hi Ruwan, Thank you for your comment and I agree with you. According to Armstrong (1996), in expressing a concept of training, underlined that if training is to be fully understood, it must be created and practice inside the organization through respecting learning of ideas and techniques.

Key Performance Indicators for Employee Training Programs

Introduction Over the last few decades, the importance of employee training has become exceedingly obvious. The factors influencing this movement are diverse and far-reaching, starting with the change in workforce predominance from Generation X to millennials to the changes in how people now learn, aided by the age of technology, to everything in between. Many companies are exploring online learning as a way to help employees and businesses grow   (Abraham, 2009) . While this is an incredible leap in developing a learning culture at work, some employees fail to make full use of this eLearning-empowered phenomenon. Namely, the process of training implementation ends with course delivery   (Armstrong, 2014) . To conduct an effective evaluation of the course and see whether learning objectives have been reached, it is necessary to measure employee Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). These key performance indicators you pick to monitor should be closely related to the ob...

Challengers of Training and Development of Professionals

Introduction For most companies, the highest priority when it comes to allocating training resources is increasing the effectiveness of training programs. This is hardly surprising because both executives and learners benefit from training that’s optimized to save time and money while delivering all its learning promises   (Erasmus, et al., 2006) . Yet despite careful resource allocation, many companies still find their training to be ineffective or only partially effective in achieving its goals. This is usually because of a few common issues with training and development. These training challenges range from a time-poor and sometimes dispersed workforce to limiting costs while improving engagement, and catering for diverse learning preferences.    Dealing with Change Organizational transformation is difficult and more common than it has ever been. The main problem stated by Learning and Development (L&D) professionals is dea...

Identifying Training and Development Needs

Introduction Today's work environment requires employees to be skilled in performing complex tasks in an efficient, cost-effective, and safe manner. Training (a performance improvement tool) is needed when employees are not performing up to a certain standard or at an expected level of performance. The difference between actual the actual level of job performance and the expected level of job performance indicates a need for training. The identification of training needs is the first step in a uniform method of instructional design   (Campbell, 2020) . A successful training needs analysis will identify those who need training and what kind of training is needed. It is counter-productive to offer training to individuals who do not need it or to offer the wrong kind of training. Following Training Needs Analysis methods helps to put the training resources to good use. Performance Appraisal The management should assess the performance of various employees in each de...
